A dock shelter uses a fabric or rigid frame that the trailer backs into, rather than pads it compresses against. That gives it far more tolerance for varied trailer heights and widths, and it leaves the full opening clear for forklift access. Shelters are the right call for mixed fleets, oversized trailers, and high-traffic positions where a seal would wear out quickly.
